Who this covers

Hosts, who use Programmable Talk to take registrations for their events, and registrants, who sign up for them. For registrant data, the host decides what is collected and why; we process it for them.

What we keep about registrants

  • Email address, name if given, the company domain from a work address, and which way in they used.
  • What they choose to tell the host: what they hope to get out of the event, and questions they send.
  • For work addresses, research about their company (not about them as a person), from the company's own pages and public sources, run on the host's programmable.info account.
  • The email they sent to register, and replies to our emails, only as far as needed to act on them (register, cancel, pass a question to the host, send an invitation they asked for) and answer in the same thread.
  • Whether they attended, when the host marks it, pastes an attendee list, or it comes back from Luma or Zoom.
  • If they turn on introductions: a line about who they'd like to meet, and the introductions they ask for and answer.

Email we send registrants

A confirmation when they register, reminders before the event, a follow-up after it, answers to their replies, and, only if they or someone they know asked, an invitation or an introduction request. Every one of these carries a link to stop further email from that host (and List-Unsubscribe headers for mail apps); a new registration still gets its confirmation.

Introductions

Off until the registrant turns them on. Then other attendees who also turned them on see their name and company, and can ask to meet. Email addresses are shared only when both people say yes.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or share registrant data, and we don't use it to train anything.
  • We don't research personal email addresses or individuals, and a registrant can turn off research on their company from their page, which deletes what was found.
  • We never register anyone without their own action: their email, or their tap.

Where it goes

To the host and their team, on the dashboard, by CSV and by their webhook; to the platform the event runs on (Luma or Zoom) when the host connects it, and back from it (attendance, cancellations); to programmable.info (the company domain only) for research; to our email provider to send email; and to Stripe for hosts' billing (hosts only). Public pages (an event, a series, a host's page, the directory) show only what the host published about the event, never who registered.

Your choices

Registrants can cancel from their page or by replying "cancel", stop email by replying "stop" or with the link in any email, and turn research and introductions on or off from their page. To have your data deleted, write to [email protected] or to the host.
